2009 – 2018
Founded in 2009, BWB is a series of social sports and new media gatherings featuring speakers and panelists specifically focused on sports fans, writers, sites, teams, athletes and companies, and their ability to maximize new media outlets for promotion and advancement. BWB events have included participation and attendance from not only a wide spectrum of sport-specific websites of all sizes, but also representatives from newspapers, television and radio, and several of the most recognized national public relations, marketing and advertising firms.
As the industry and world continue to evolve, so have we. As we mark the 10th anniversary of our initial, first-of-its kind gathering of 300+ industry leaders in the basement of a bar in NYC, BWB kicked off 2019 under a new umbrella, “The Outside Game.”
2019 & Beyond
The Outside Game was built to provide avenues that amplify conversation between among athletes, creators, media, business, and marketers in an unfiltered and unbiased manner, just as BWB has for the past decade.
Unlike existing platforms and events, The Outside Game gives athletes and contributors a real opportunity to address issues not exclusive to sport, and with a genuine voice and point of view rather than through the lens of corporate PR avenues.
The Outside Game is about showcasing its creativity and diverse perspectives, not being an echo chamber. You can’t have a unique voice if you are parroting the masses or hindered by professional, political, or financial restrictions.
It’s about finding and showcasing modern thought leaders who are driving the conversations around sports, society, & media.
Our diverse group speakers represents a cross section of individuals and companies who have shaped today’s media landscape in sports. From athletes to teams to agency reps to new and old media members alike, we have provided a level-playing field and encouraged the democratization of sports communications and influence.
